The ocularists and the rest of the team
In our institute we have three experienced ocularists at your disposal. In addition to that there are three more colleagues who provide support in reception, in the office and on the telephone and an apprentice ocularist. You can find out more about us here.
Ferdinand a. Förster
In 1969, Ferdinand A. Förster, the founder of our institute, took up his training as an ocularist in the artificial eye institute of F. Ad. Müller and sons (Kunstaugeninstitut F. Ad. Müller Söhne) in Wiesbaden and successfully graduated in 1975. In 1977, he became technical director of the Otto Adam Institute in Saarbrücken. He took this over in 1983 and after that founded Ferdinand A. Förster Ltd.
Managing Director and Owner
Chairperson of the supervisory board of the German Ocularist Society – Federal Association (DOGB), as well as Head of the Advisory Council and the Examination Board.
Between 1980 and 1982 Stephan Wunn attended a technical course in the field of glass design. After successfully completing it followed by eight years as a glass designer he then started an apprenticeship in 1990 at the Ferdinand a. Förster Institute to become an ocularist. This he successfully completed in 1995 and since then has been an integral part of the Saarbrücken Artificial Eye Institute.
Technology and Organisation
The desire to work as an ocularist brought Matthias Zimmermann in 2005 from his native Rhineland to Saarbrücken. He successfully completed his apprenticeship as an ocularist at the Ferdinand a. Förster Institute in 2010 in front of the Examination Board of the DOG.
